i). We are an ensemble. Be a non-judgemental, inclusive friend that never says a negative thing about anyone and embraces everyone because of their humanity. Work for the team, it’s about us, not you.

          a) “...You don’t inspire your teammates by showing them how amazing you are. You inspire them by showing them                         how amazing they are.” Robyn Benincasa

ii). We are passionate. Art is the soul of humanity and a great tool for change. We must sing like our voice can rebuild the world.
          a) “Without passion man is a mere latent force and possibility, like the flint which awaits the shock of the iron                                  before it can give forth its spark.” Henri Frederic Amiel

iii). We work hard; we practice; we improve. We don’t settle for good enough. No matter how good or bad we begin the goal is endless improvement. The singer embodies the idea that singing is a craft. It is not a talent some have and others do not, but an improvable skill that must be developed, honed and practiced.
           a) “Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard                         work.” Stephen King
           b)   “Amateurs practice until they get it right, experts practice until they can’t get it wrong.”

iv). We own our attitude and our outcomes. Everyday we choose how to interpret our circumstances. We alone are responsible for our attitude. We will choose joy, choose gratitude, choose laughter. Whether it is our mistakes, our successes, our attitude, our failures, our feelings, our opinions or voice. Whatever it is, we own it.
            a) “The True Joy in life is to be a force of fortune instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances                            complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy." George Bernard Shaw
            b) “Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.” -Marcus Aurelius

v). We burn brightly. We want our lives to be a thing of meaning but for that to happen we cannot merely focus on ourselves. It is not enough, therefore, to be a source of excellence and passion, we must also be a contagious source of generosity, joy and optimism.

The Choir Creed:

"I will be a source of excellence in my musicality and in my character by committing myself to passionate performance, ensemble success, a positive attitude and a growth mindset."
